This article provides answers to frequently asked questions about the Yale Access App.
What is Yale Access?
Yale Access is the Yale App that enables customers to remotely access and manage Yale smart products, including Assure Locks, Smart Cabinet Locks, Smart Delivery Boxes and more, from their smartphone or tablet. The app allows users to lock and unlock, share access with trusted family or friends, view access history, receive notifications, and customize settings from wherever you are in the world. The app works alongside the Yale Connect Wi-Fi bridge to give users the ability to manage remotely and integrate with voice assistants.
What about the Connected by August program? Is anything happening to the August App?
The features and functionalities are the same – customers will have the same experience across both apps. The August App will remain functional and available for both August and Yale customers using Connected by August products. The Yale Access App will be available for all new Yale Assure Lock/Lever with Wi-Fi, Smart Cabinet Lock, Smart Safe or Smart Delivery Box customers and for those that want to switch over their Yale Assure Lock/Lever Connected by August products.
I already use the August App for my Yale Assure Lock/Lever Connected by August. Do I need to do anything?
No – feel free to continue using the August App! It will operate as normal and continue to sync with any new August/Yale smart products you install in the future.
I own both August and Yale products, which app should I use?
If you already have either the August or Yale Access App, continue to use the app that you have downloaded. You need either the August App, or the Yale Access App, but you should not have both downloaded. Yale Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and August products can be managed from the same app. If you do not have either app, we recommend downloading the Yale Access App to manage your products if you own one or more Yale products. If you own an August Smart Lock, and no Yale products, please use the August App.
I have an August account. Do I need to make a Yale Access account so that I can transition to the Yale Access App?
No, if you already have an August account and app, and want to transition to the Yale Access App, you do not need to create a new account. Just download the app and login using your August account information. All of your homes, products and settings will show in the Yale Access App.
I shared access with guests using my August App. Will those guests show up in the Yale Access App?
Yes. If you’d like to transition to the Yale Access App, simply download the app and login using the same account information you use for the August App. Your home, products, guests and settings will pre-populate in the app.
Are the Works With partners the same for each app?
Not all of the integrations are the same between the two apps. The Yale Access App does not work with Honeywell, Liberty Mutual, Logitech Pop, Nest, Wink or Xfinity Home.
How can I find out which version of the App I have?
The version of the App you have downloaded on your device can be seen by selecting the menu in the top lefthand corner. The App version is listed at the bottom of this menu.
