Troubleshooting the Light on Your Yale View Doorbell Cam

There are two lights on the Yale View: The Button Light and the Diagnostic Light. Information on the meaning of specific light behaviors is included below:

Button Light

No Light

In most cases, this indicates that your doorbell cam is in sleep mode to preserve battery power. It will wake from sleep whenever it detects motion activity or whenever a visitor presses the doorbell button.

If the battery level is too low, the doorbell cam may be powered off. You will need to remove the battery and charge it fully before replacing. Your app should report the last known battery level on the doorbell tab.

Green light slowly pulsing

This indicates that your doorbell cam is ready to set up. You should be able to set up your doorbell on your Wi-Fi network when you see this light.

Green light quickly pulsing

Your doorbell cam is connecting to your Wi-Fi network. This happens any time your doorbell cam powers on or restarts, such as replacing the battery or pressing the Reset button.

Solid Green Light

The solid green light is seen when the Yale View is booting up. If the solid green light remains on the unit, remove the battery and charge it until the light on the battery changes from red to green.

If the solid green light on the unit does not go away, contact Support: Support@YaleLock.com

White Light

This indicates your doorbell cam is powering on, and should turn off during normal operation.

Red Light

This indicates a failure to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

This might occur in the 3 following situations:

1. During initial doorbell setup

The password entered was likely incorrect. The app will guide you to enter your password to try again.

2. During normal operation

If there is a temporary issue connecting to your Wi-Fi network, the red light may be visible before your doorbell cam restarts and attempts to connect again. If it is unable to connect repeatedly, try the following to resolve the issue:

  • Restart your doorbell cam by removing, then replacing the battery

  • If needed, restart your network equipment (modem and/or Wi-Fi router)

3. If your network name or password changes

Changing your network’s name (SSID) or password will leave your doorbell cam unable to connect to your Wi-Fi network. In this case, you need to connect your doorbell cam to your Wi-Fi network using your new credentials:

  • Navigate to the Settings (gear) tab in your Yale App

  • Tap Doorbell Settings

  • Scroll down and tap Switch Wi-Fi Networks.

  • You will be instructed to put your doorbell cam into provisioning mode by holding the Reset button on the back until the button light slowly pulses green.

  • Follow the instructions to enter your new Wi-Fi credentials

Diagnostic Light

White Light

This indicates your doorbell cam is powering on, and should turn off during normal operation.

Red Light

This indicates the battery in your doorbell cam is running low and needs to be charged soon.
