What is Z-Wave?
Z-Wave is a wireless communications protocol used primarily for home automation. It is a mesh network which uses low-energy communication to allowing for wireless control of residential appliances and other devices, such as lighting control, security systems, thermostats, windows, locks, swimming pools and garage door openers. A Z-Wave system can be controlled via the Internet from a smart phone, tablet or computer, and locally through a smart speaker, wireless keyfob, or wall-mounted panel with a Z-Wave gateway or central control device serving as both the hub controller and portal to the outside.
What do I need to use the Z-Wave Plus Module?
The Yale Z-Wave Smart Module (AYR202-ZWV-USA) is compatible with all Yale Assure Locks and Levers.
To control your lock with your phone, you must purchase a compatible Z-Wave Smart home hub. You will use the third party application to control and manage your lock.
How do I get started with my Assure Lock and a Z-Wave Plus Smart Module?
Install the third party partner app to your phone.
After your Yale lock has been successfully installed and your master pin code has been created (follow the installation instructions packaged with your lock), continue with the below steps:
- Remove the lock’s battery cover and batteries.
- Insert the Yale Z-Wave Smart Module, Batteries and battery cover.
Follow the steps in your third party partner app to enroll the lock into the network. Enroll the Network Module.
