This article provides steps to determine which Yale Lock your door is compatible with.
First, inspect your existing lock to find out which type of lock you need to install:
- Does your door have a single piece of hardware (one hole)? You'll want an Assure Lever
- Does your door have two pieces of hardware (two holes)? You'll want an Assure Lock, Nest x Yale Lock, B1L/T1L Lock, or Yale Pro SL with a matching piece of Yale mechanical hardware (handleset, lever or knob).
- If you have a mortise prepped door, your door is not compatible.
- If you have an interconnected lockset currently, you'll need to replace with a new Yale deadbolt and matching mechanical handleset, lever or knob.
Then, measure your door:
Assure Lock Door Measurements (YRD216, YRD226, YRD256)
- Thickness: 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" (can be as thin as 1-3/8" for the YRD256)
- Edge bore hole: 1"
- Face bore hole: 2-1/8"
- Backset (distance from edge of door to center of bore hole): 2-3/8" or 2-3/4"
Nest x Yale Lock Door Measurements (YRD540)
- Thickness: 1-3/8" to 2-1/4"
- Edge bore hole: 1"
- Face bore hole: 2-1/8"
- Backset (distance from edge of door to center of bore hole): 2-3/8" or 2-3/4"
B1L or T1L Lock Door Measurements (YRD110 or YRD120)
- Thickness: 1-3/4" to 2-1/4"
- Edge bore hole: 1"
- Face bore hole: 2-1/8"
- Backset (distance from edge of door to center of bore hole): 2-3/8" or 2-3/4"
Assure Lever Door Measurements (YRL236 or YRL256)
- Thickness: 1-3/8" to 1-3/4"
- Edge bore hole: 1"
- Face bore hole: 2-1/8"
- Backset (distance from edge of door to center of bore hole): 2-3/8" or 2-3/4"
Yale Pro SL Door Measurements (YRD136 or YRD156)
- Thickness: 1-3/8" to 1-3/4"
- Edge bore hole: 1"
- Face bore hole: 2 1/8" or 1 1/2"
- Backset (distance from edge of door to center of bore hole): 2-3/8" or 2-3/4"
