Select Proper Backset

For use on doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" (35mm - 45mm)

Backset is distance from door edge to center of hole on door face.

Step 1: Mark Door

Fold and apply template to high edge of door bevel and mark center of door edge as indicated on template at desired height from floor; approximately 36" (914mm).

Mark center hole on door face through guide on template for either 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) backset.

Step 2: Drill Holes

Drill 2-1/8" (54mm) hole through door face as marked for lockset.

Note: Drill holes from both sides to prevent splitting.

Drill 1" (25mm) hole in center of door edge through to 2-1/8" (54mm) hole for latch. Check template for correct size for your latch application.

Step 3: Install Latch

Insert latch in hole keeping it parallel to face of door.

Mark outline and remove latch.

Chisel 1/8" (3.2mm) deep or until latch face is flush with door edge.

Insert latch in hole keeping it parallel to face of door.

Mark two (2) fastener holes, remove latch and drill pilot holes with 1/16" (1.6mm) drill bit.

Using provided screws, install latch.

Note: For drive-in latch, drill hole size indicated on template and press latch until it is flush with door edge.

Step 4: Install Strike

Place template against flat of latchbolt and close door. Mark template for strike opening from edge of jamb. Move 1/4" (6mm) for plain latch and 3/4" (19mm) for deadlatch toward door stop to locate centerline for screws and 1" (25mm) hole.

Bore 1" (25mm) hole 1/2" (13mm) minimum deep into door jamb on centerline of screws.

Match screw holes on strike with centerline on jamb. Outline outside edges of strike. Mortise 1/16" (1.6mm) deep.

Using provided screws, install strike. If strike box is required, mount under strike as shown.

Step 5: Install Exterior Knob

Insert knob with spindle into latch. Make certain that stems are positioned correctly though latch holes.

Press flush against door.

Step 6: Install Interior Knob

Install interior knob and rose by placing on spindle and aligning screw holes with stems.

Plush flush against door.

Insert screws through holes and tighten.

To Change Hand of Lock

Key hole must be at bottom position. To change hand, depress retainer and slide off knob. Turn exterior knob 180° and replace onto rose.
