How to Resolve Excessive Battery Drain

If the batteries in your device are draining faster than they should, the following troubleshooting steps may help:

First, check the device to ensure the wiring is not damaged. Verify that the harness (white cable) is routed correctly. It should be wired under the deadbolt latch and through the vertical rectangular hole inside the mounting plate.

If the wiring is correct, the issue may be due to incorrect pairing. If a device begins the enrollment process in close proximity to the hub and is then moved out of range while the enrollment is still in process, you may experience issues. To troubleshoot, un-enroll and re-enroll from the hub network to reset.

If the device is paired correctly, the battery drain may be due to too much distance between the lock and the panel or hub. If you have more than 20 feet between the device and the panel or hub, a repeater is required to strengthen the signal. Try moving the panel or hub closer to the device or installing a repeater to verify if excessive distance is the cause of battery drain.

If the distance is not the issue, the issue may be due to excessive polling by the panel. You may need to contact the panel manufacturer for further assistance and/or panel troubleshooting.

If excessive polling is not the issue, the module firmware may be out of date. If your module is within the warranty period, contact us to replace the module: support@yalelock.com.

If none of the above correct the issue, the lock may have an internal defect. If your lock is within the warranty period, contact Support to replace the module.

PLEASE NOTE: When you contact Support, please have your proof of purchase and the Yale lock serial number ready so the Support team can validate the product warranty. Your serial number is located on a sticker inside the device's battery cover.
