This article provides instructions to factory reset the following Yale Assure Locks:
- Yale Assure SL, YRD256/YRD456
- Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen, YRD226/YRD426
- Yale Assure Lock Push Button, YRD216/YRD416
When the lock is reset to factory defaults all user codes (including the Master entry code) are deleted and all programming features are reset to their original default settings (see below).
Follow the steps below to factory reset the lock:
- Remove the battery cover and batteries.
- Remove the interior escutcheon to access the reset button.
- The reset button (see image) is located beside the PCB cable connector.
- While pressing the reset button (for a minimum of 3 seconds) reinstall batteries and release the reset button.
- Replace the battery cover.

Following a factory reset, Master entry code creation is the only option available and must be performed prior to any other programming of the lock.
